Standardization in the military sphere

The significant intencification of the processes of international cooperation and the absence of military standards to assure the activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine crucialy slows down the process of achieving the necessary level of cooperaion in operative, material, administrative and other spheres of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with NATO member state countries.

According to the experience of conducting the events of international cooperation of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of Ukraine the absence of a normalized process of the activity of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of Ukraine results in unapproved actions of different structural units, and accordingly has a negative influence upon the effectiveness of cooperation with international facilities in different spheres of activity of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The introduction of NATO military standards will form the appropriate normative base for planning the events of activity of the strucutural unts of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The determination of the main definitions of the military system will promote the achievement of a necessary level of interconnection between types of Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other military formations (The Ministry of internal affairs, the security service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Emergency situations, the armed forces of other countries in the process of preparing and conducting operations, and also the promotion of harmonizing and unifying the military terminology with the NATO and EU countries).

In accordance with the decree of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine dated from 27.08.2006 #752 (with additions), the Chief of General Staff – the Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has determined the Military Institute as a basic organization on standardization in the direction (Administrative activity, linguistic assurance and military terminology) (The decree of Chief of General Staff dated from 11.08.15 #312).

The linguistic research and development department is determined as a prominent facility responsible for the development and increase of the informational resource of standardized military terminology within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. (Decree of the Minister of Defense dated from 15.09.2016 #481);

In accordance with the decree of the Ministry of Defense dated from 15.09.2016 #481 the department is responsible for the conduction of the linguistic expertise of all bi-and multilingual military standards within the Armed Forces of Ukraine;

LRDD is actively engaged in the process of creating the TK-176 “The standardization of equipment for military purpose» (The decision of the head of the TK-176 committee letter dated from 26.12.2016 #191/840)

The events on military standardization on the basis of LRDD were organized in accordance with the following directions:

  • The improvement of the informational system of the military system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • The development of an informational resource of standardized military terminology within the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • The introduction of normative documents to the process of activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
LNDC
