Main tasks

THE MAIN AIM OF THE DEPARTMENT:

Scientific research in the field of linguistic support of the troops (forces).

THE MAIN TASK OF THE DEPARTMENT:

The planning, organizing and conduct of the scientific and technical activities in the sphere of linguistic support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

 

The main tasks in the sphere of scientific and research activity of the Department:

  • scientific research and applied scientific activities in the spheres of translation studies, applied linguistics, linguodidactics, linguodiagnosis, lexicographics, normative codifying and the military-regional informational and analytical activity of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • the generalization and implementation of the modern approaches, educational standards, advanced experience of scientific, educational and methodological work, the new informational and communicative technologies, implementing up-to-date scientific experience and the results of scientific research into the practise of military translation and the training programmes for highly qualified interpreters and translators, the development of proposals as to improve the educational process;
  • the analysis, creation and standartizing the equivalents for new terms and definitions, as well as informative, reference and thematic glossaries and analitycal materials pertaining the modern weaponry and the doctrines of foreign armies, etc; 
  • scientific research activity in the field of the translation competence formation and psycholinguistic problems of translation, the current informational processes, the doctrines of foreign armies, etc; 
  • complete and quality translation support of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine activities;
  • the development of military-theoretical works, monographies, dissertations, handbooks, encyclopedia, encyclopedic directories, scientific articles, scientific messages, textbooks, tutorials, software, as well as the development of statute (normative) documents in accordance with the plans of the respective military command and control authorities; employment of the new informational technologies to create and maintain computer dictionaries and the provide automated translation.
