On December 20, 2018, the Military Institute of the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University visited the delegation of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany headed by the Attaché for Defense at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine, the president of the Kiev Association of Military Attaches Colonel Norbert Hess.
During the event Colonel Norbert Hess got acquainted with the history of the Military Institute, its structure and organization of training of military specialists for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other departments of the security and defense sector of Ukraine.
The parties discussed the current state of cooperation between the Military Institute and the institutions and educational establishments of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as the planning of measures for 2019. In particular, it was agreed to continue and deepen cooperation with the Federal Linguistic Agency of the German Armed Forces in the field of professional training of Ukrainian military interpreters and terminologists. The issue of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between two institutions in 2019 was also discussed. Representatives of the Military Institute raised the issue of renewal the traineeships in military units of Bundeswehr for cadets specializing in Military Translation and studying the German language.
Colonel Norbert Hess assured that he would support cooperation with the Military Institute and facilitate the implementation of the planned measures. The chairman of the German delegation also expressed gratitude to the Military Institute for the opportunity to conduct classes in German language for officers of Armed Forces of Ukraine, carried out by the German side within the framework of assistance from the Federal Ministry of Defense of Germany in the field of military education and training.
At the end of the meeting there was an exchange of souvenirs. The event was held in a friendly atmosphere, in a spirit of mutual understanding and respect.
